George Bocean

George Bocean is a Doctoral Researcher at Durham University, focusing on Russian Studies with an emphasis on Marxism and Religion during the late Tsarist and early Soviet periods. Currently serving as a Reviewer for Historical Materialism Journal and a Postgraduate Teaching Assistant at UCL SSEES, George has taught modules covering the History of the Soviet Union and European Political Ideas. Experience also includes work as a Freelance Translator for TextMaster, translating materials from German and French to English, as well as a Fundraiser for Scope, which supports children with disabilities. Educational credentials include a PhD in Russian Studies from Durham University, an MA in Social and Political Thought from the University of Sussex, and a BA in History and Sociology from the University of Greenwich. Additional education includes participation in the Erasmus+ Programme and completion of a Summer School in Russian Language and Culture at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
