Yvonne van der Meer is a distinguished academic and leader in the field of biobased materials and sustainability. Currently serving as a Board Member at the University Fund Limburg and President of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Chemische Vereniging-KNCV, Yvonne also participates as a Scientific Committee Member for the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking and holds the position of Scientific Vice-Director at the Aachen-Maastricht Institute for Biobased Materials, along with roles as a Full Professor and Academic Research Lead at Sustainable UM2030. With extensive experience in establishing research programs and educational initiatives related to biobased materials, Yvonne's contributions include pioneering the Biobased Materials research group at Maastricht University and managing various significant projects in sustainable chemistry. Yvonne holds a Ph.D. in Physics & Chemical Technology from Delft University of Technology and an M.Sc. in Molecular Sciences from Wageningen University & Research, alongside a solid foundation in academic and research funding development throughout a diverse career spanning multiple prestigious institutions and organizations.

De KNCV is de vereniging van mensen met passie voor moleculen. Chemici en life scientists, van procestechnologie tot (bio)moleculaire wetenschappen. Een dynamische community met 8.000 leden die de variëteit en rijkdom van het moleculaire vakgebied tot leven brengen. Samen maken we de chemie. De KNCV vergroot de (vak)kennis van leden, bevordert de contacten tussen leden en behartigt hun belangen in hun werkveld en richting politiek en overheid. Werk, Onderwijs en Maatschappij zijn de speerpunten van het beleid. Ook maakt de KNCV zich hard voor de beeldvorming van de chemie buiten de vereniging door zitting te nemen in de Regiegroep Chemie.
