Russel L.

Russel L. has extensive experience in the legal field, starting with their role as an Advocate and Solicitor at KhattarWong from 2000 to 2003, followed by a position as Advocate and Solicitor at Kelvin Chia Partnership from 2004 to 2006. Russel then became the Regional Counsel (Asia Pacific) at Subsea 7 from 2006 to 2009, providing support and advice to stakeholders and other businesses within the company. From 2007 to 2010, Russel worked as a Solicitor at Ince & Co, handling shipping and offshore matters, including international arbitrations and transactional work. Russel then joined Wikborg Rein Singapore as a Senior Lawyer from 2010 to 2014, where they advised clients on shipping, offshore, and insolvency matters. In 2014, Russel became Of Counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright, specializing in international offshore contracts, disputes, and transactions. Russel also acted on the world's first converted FLNG project. In 2015, they were a Legal Counsel (Secondee) at Singapore Sports Hub, managing legal and contract issues for the PPP project. Russel's most recent role is as the Head of Legal & Compliance (Asia & Middle East Division) at Vopak since 2017, where they oversee legal, compliance, and corporate secretariat functions across multiple countries and terminals. Russel is heavily involved in various aspects of the business, including business development, M&A, and project finance matters.

Russel L. completed their LLB. in Law from the University of Exeter, attending from 1996 to 1999. Russel further pursued their education in Law, obtaining a Graduate Diploma in Singapore Law from the National University of Singapore in 2000. In 2008, they took a Maritime Law Short Course at the University of Southampton. Prior to their higher education, Russel L. attended Anglo-Chinese Junior College from 1992 to 1994 and Anglo-Chinese School from 1988 to 1991. Russel began their educational journey at Anglo-Chinese Junior School from 1982 to 1987. In terms of additional certifications, Russel L. became a Solicitor of England and Wales in 2003 and an Advocate and Solicitor of Singapore in 2001. Russel is also certified in Sports Massage by FIT Asia and an ACE Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE Fitness).
