Robert Scoggins, MD, PhD has extensive experience in the field of pulmonary and critical care medicine. Robert currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Cytovale, a medical diagnostic company focused on developing new technologies to better understand immune-mediated diseases. Prior to this role, Dr. Scoggins worked at Kootenai Health as the Medical Director of Critical Care, Respiratory Therapy, and Pulmonary Rehab, and later as the Chief of Staff. Robert also worked as a Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician at Kootenai Health Lung and Asthma, where they managed patients in the intensive care unit and focused on diagnosing and treating respiratory diseases. In addition, Dr. Scoggins started the division of Critical Care within Anesthesia Medical Group and served in various roles including Co-director of AMG Critical Care and Medical Director of Critical Care. Before that, they worked as an Assistant Professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care at National Jewish Health and as a Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician at Frist Clinic. Dr. Scoggins' expertise lies in critical care management, respiratory diseases, and immune-mediated diseases.
Robert Scoggins, MD, PhD attended Vanderbilt University, where they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Molecular Biology in 1995. Robert then pursued their Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Ph.D. in Medicine, Microbiology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine from 1995 to 2002. Following this, they completed their Internal Medicine Residency Program at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine from 2002 to 2004. Robert further specialized in Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine from 2004 to 2008. Robert is also board certified in Critical Care, Internal Medicine, and Pulmonary Disease by the ABIM.
