Sofie Marien

Sofie Marien is an Associate Professor at KU Leuven and an expert in digital democracy at Tree Company. With a Doctorate in Social Science and 17 years of academic experience, Sofie has held positions including Professor of Political Science at both KU Leuven and the University of Amsterdam. Sofie's research focuses on political trust, participation, communication, and the psychology of civic engagement, complemented by roles as head of the LEGIT research team and project leader on various national and international projects. Additionally, Sofie has contributed to social engagement initiatives, serving as an analyst for VRT election broadcasts and co-founding a Belgian-Dutch participatory budgeting platform.
