Bailey Surtees is the CEO and Founder of Kubanda Cryotherapy. Previously, they worked as a researcher at The Johns Hopkins University from June 2017 to December 2019. In this role, they were the project lead working on the development of novel cryoablation technology. Bailey managed a team of 9 in iterating and rigorously testing the technology in accordance with accepted literature as well as in development and validation of market opportunities.
Before working at The Johns Hopkins University, Surtees was the Undergraduate Design Team Leader at the Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design from June 2015 to May 2017. In this role, they worked with a team of 9 to develop a low-cost cryoablation treatment for breast cancer to be implemented at local clinics in rural South Africa. Bailey collaborated with clinicians and professionals from Johns Hopkins Hospital, Hlokomela Clinic, and University of Witwatersrand.
Prior to their work at the Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design, Surtees was an Engineering Design and Business Development Intern at Martin Bionics Innovations from June 2015 to December 2015.
Bailey Surtees has a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and a Certification from SOLO Wilderness Medical School in Wilderness First Responder. Bailey also has a Certification from SOLO Wilderness Medical School in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
