Alfred Sawatzky

Alfred Sawatzky has extensive experience in various roles within the technology industry. Alfred began their career as a Consultant at KYS Consulting, where they primarily worked on Smallworld implementation projects. Alfred then joined GeoData Solutions Inc. as a Consultant, focusing on Smallworld implementations for electric and gas utilities. In 2000, Smallworld acquired GeoData Solutions, and Alfred became a Principal Senior Consultant before Smallworld itself was acquired by General Electric (GE).

At GE, Alfred took on Senior Consulting roles and provided technical team leadership on large implementation projects for clients such as PPL and Global Crossing. Alfred was responsible for GIS data loads and process configurations, and also designed and co-developed a redlining service for Smallworld Internet Application Server and PNI.

Alfred then joined Red Planet Consulting as a Managing Principal Consultant, where they worked as a Smallworld consultant for various utilities and mentored a development team remotely in Chennai, India. Alfred assisted AboveNet with implementing enhancements to their PNI installation and created custom OSC reports and GUI batch processes.

In 2008, Alfred joined iFactor Inc. as a Principal Consultant, transitioning to roles such as lead engineer, support analyst, and product manager for the Web Maps Connector (WMC) product. Alfred worked on Notifi implementation projects at NV Energy and Ameren, creating design documents and assigning tasks to their team.

Currently, Alfred is working at KUBRA, first as Director of Client Solutions and later as Director of Product Management. Alfred led a team of designers, tech writers, information architects, and product managers, overseeing the development of products like Notifi, Storm Center, and KUBRA IncidentWatch. In their most recent roles as Senior Director and Head of Product Management, Alfred has been responsible for leading the Product Management team, gathering stakeholder requirements, working with designers and engineers, presenting to customers, maintaining roadmaps, and attending industry conferences.

Additionally, Alfred has hosted KUBRA's monthly podcast, Experience Better: The CX Podcast, where they interview industry thought leaders about customer experience. Throughout their career, Alfred has demonstrated their ability to lead teams, develop product strategies, and deliver excellent client solutions.

Alfred Sawatzky completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Civil Engineering from The University of British Columbia, where they studied from 1988 to 1994. Alfred then pursued an Advanced Diploma in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, which they completed between 1995 and 1996. Alongside their engineering studies, Alfred also obtained a Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) from Canadian Mennonite University from 1990 to 1992. In terms of additional certifications, Alfred obtained the following: pandas Essential Training from LinkedIn in September 2020, Product Management: Building a Product Strategy from LinkedIn in April 2020, Managing Teams from LinkedIn in December 2019, and Lucidchart Essentials from Lucid in October 2019.
