Rui Manuel Barreira

Rui Manuel Barreira has a diverse and extensive work experience. In their current role as the VP of Engineering at kununu, they lead Engineering teams across multiple time zones to ensure the development and delivery of the company's platform. Rui Manuel is also a part of the kununu Leadership Team and the New Work Leadership Team.

Prior to joining kununu, Rui held various roles at ENSICO. As a Board Member & VP of Digital Platforms, they were responsible for articulating the non-profit's vision and roadmap. Rui Manuel promoted computing as a discipline for students and laid out business objectives, digital platforms, and managed teams. Rui Manuel also served as a Board Member & VP of Operations at ENSICO during the same period.

Rui has also worked as an Advisor at VIZpin Smart Property Systems, where they provided guidance on technology and product strategy. Additionally, they served as the VP of Technology at VIZpin, overseeing the development and delivery of various products.

Rui Manuel has worked as an Advisor at Replai, offering insights on technology and operations strategy. Rui Manuel is also a General Council Member at Instituto Superior de Gestão.

Rui has a strong entrepreneurial background as well. Rui Manuel is the Founder and Managing Partner of CODE TIDE, providing digital transformation services. Rui Manuel has also served as a Strategic Advisor at Neadvance, where they supported the board in implementing technology, product, marketing, and business strategies.

Rui served as an Advisory Board Member at SURFnCODE, sharing industry and entrepreneurship knowledge with younger generations. Rui Manuel also acted as an Advisory Board Member for Porto Tech Hub, supporting the development of the city's tech scene.

Furthermore, Rui co-founded and served as the CEO of motel.io, a platform for testing software on mobile devices.

Throughout their career, Rui Manuel Barreira has demonstrated strong leadership and expertise in technology, product development, and digital transformation.

Rui Manuel Barreira's education history begins with a 4-year degree in Computer Science from Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto, which they obtained from 2000 to 2005. Rui Manuel then pursued a Master's degree in Software Engineering from Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, which they completed from 2006 to 2009.

In 2013, Rui enrolled in the Faculdade de Psicologia e de Ciências da Educação da Universidade do Porto to study Coaching for High Performance. Rui Manuel received certification in this field in April 2014.

Rui also holds additional certifications and qualifications. In November 2012, they completed a course on Operations Management at Wharton Executive Education. In January 2013, they obtained certifications in Technology Entrepreneurship from Stanford Technology Ventures Program (STVP) and participated in a course on Creativity at Stanford Technology Ventures Program. Rui also became an Advanced Open Water Diver through SSI Scuba Schools International in March 2013. Additionally, they completed a program titled "Leading Strategic Innovation in Organizations" at Vanderbilt University in April 2013.

Rui obtained an ITIL® 2011 Foundation certification through APMG-International in September 2013. Rui Manuel achieved certification in the "Coaching, Empowerment and Team Leadership" course at Faculdade de Psicologia e de Ciências da Educação da Universidade do Porto in January 2014. Rui also gained certification in the "Coaching for High Performances" program at the same institution in April 2014.

Rui's professional development continued with certifications in project management. In October 2014, they obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification from the Project Management Institute. Moreover, they completed the APM1210 Advanced Project Management course offered by Bright Partners in September 2014.

In 2015, Rui participated in the Advanced Leadership Master program, jointly conducted by ANJE and the Portuguese Army. Rui Manuel also obtained the Large Account Management Program certification from Miller Heiman Group (formerly MHI Global) in July 2016, and the Karrass Negotiation certification from KARRASS® Effective Negotiating in May 2016.

Continuing their professional development, Rui earned the Digital Transformation Strategy certification from Boston University in July 2017. Finally, in June 2023, they completed the Singularity Executive Program at Singularity University.
