James Tavares

James Tavares has a strong background in software engineering and IT management. James worked as a Lead Software Engineer for KVH Industries, Inc. starting in July 2019 and as a Sr. Embedded Software Engineer prior to that. At Spectra Systems Corporation, they had a long tenure where they held various positions, including Software Engineer & IT Manager from April 2003 to April 2016. In this role, they oversaw multiple complex embedded system projects and IT operations. Before that, they worked at Log On America, Inc. as a Sr. Data Network Engineer and Systems Administrator, where they led the development of a highly available and scalable ISP service delivery platform and maintained servers in a busy 24/7 environment.

James Tavares holds a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Brown University, which they obtained from 2009 to 2013. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Bryant University from 2000 to 2008, with a concentration in Computer Information Systems and minors in Mathematics and Communication. In 2018, they also obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera.
