kW Energy Advisors is an independent distributed energy resource advisory firm. We work for the energy buyer, not the developer.

The firm was founded by two advisors who spent years guiding large organizations through solar, storage, and microgrid decisions inside a Fortune 500 energy company. They left to build an independent practice around one idea: energy buyers deserve someone on their side of the table.

For a CFO, a facilities director, or a sustainability lead, the problem is the same. The people selling you a solar PPA or a battery system know more about the deal than you do, and their incentives are not yours. We close that gap. We do not sell equipment, and we do not take the developer's side. Our job is to validate the economics, pressure-test the production and performance assumptions, and connect you with vetted developers who can actually deliver.

What we do:
Solar, BESS, and microgrid feasibility and decision support
PPA and EPC review on commercial terms, including pricing, escalators, milestones, and performance guarantees
Utility Rate Optimization (URO)
ITC and safe harbor timing
Independent developer vetting and matchmaking

Most organizations are on the wrong utility rate and do not know it. Tariffs change, usage shifts, and the utility has no reason to move you to a cheaper schedule. Our Utility Rate Optimization (URO) service analyzes your rate structure against how you actually use power and finds the schedule that costs you less. We are paid from a share of the savings we verify, so if there is nothing to save, there is nothing to pay.

Steve Willins leads analytics and tells you whether the numbers hold up. Matt Keever leads commercial strategy and origination. Together, they make sure the buyer is never the least-informed party in a seven-figure decision.

We work with clients across the United States.
