Shelby Gappa is a seasoned Promotions Writer and Producer at KWWL since December 2014, focusing on creating compelling on-air and online promotions to enhance viewership for newscasts. Additionally, Gappa serves as a Production Assistant for Cedar Falls Community Television, responsible for producing news packages and covering local athletics. Previous experience includes an Ad Trafficker role at Cedar Falls Utilities, where responsibilities included managing ad placements, and an internship at KUOO/KUYY/KUQQ, which involved recording and editing radio spots. Shelby Gappa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Electronic Media from the University of Northern Iowa and an AAS in Broadcasting from Iowa Lakes Community College.

KWWL is the only station with newsrooms in Waterloo, Dubuque, Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. We've got you covered. KWWL is owned by Allen Media Broadcasting, and was started as a radio station -- KWWL-AM -- in 1947 by Ralph J. McElroy. KWWL-TV was put on the air in 1953. In 2002, KWWL made the leap into the modern age and switched to digital television. Three years later, the station offered secondary digital sub-channels. In late 2009, KWWL made the next step in digital transition by remodeling their facility to begin high-definition news broadcasts. April 12, 2010, saw the first HD newscast in eastern Iowa.
