Senior Software Engineer at KX

Marty Thompson has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. In 2012, Marty started as a Financial Engineer at First Derivatives, where they were involved in project requirement gathering, client-side implementation of software products, and received training on fundamental products and kdb+. Marty then moved to National Australia Bank as a Consultant before joining SEB as a Consultant, where they upgraded client kdb+ systems and worked on feature development. Marty returned to National Australia Bank as a Consultant for a brief period before joining First Derivatives again as a kdb+ developer. They then worked at Citi as a Consultant and later joined State Street as an Assistant Vice President. Currently, Marty is working at KX as a Senior Software Engineer.

From 2000 to 2007, Marty attended St Malachy's College Belfast, where they studied GCSE A Level.

From 2007 to 2011, Marty attended Queen's University Belfast, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Computer Science.

In addition to their formal education, Marty obtained several certifications. In 2017, they completed the following courses on Coursera: "Advanced Data Structures in Java", "Mastering the Software Engineering Interview", "Data Structures and Performance", and "Object Oriented Programming in Java".

In 2021, Marty obtained certificates for various Google Cloud courses, such as "Essential Google Cloud Infrastructure: Core Services", "Essential Google Cloud Infrastructure: Foundation", and "Google Cloud Platform Fundamentals: Core Infrastructure". Marty also completed other certifications like "Elastic Google Cloud Infrastructure: Scaling and Automation" and "Architecting with Google Kubernetes Engine: Foundations".

Most recently, in 2022, Marty obtained certifications in Go programming, including "Concurrency in Go", "Programming with Google Go Specialization", "Functions, Methods, and Interfaces in Go", and "Getting Started with Go". These certifications were obtained from Coursera.
