Rod Bristol began their work experience in 1994 as a Research Engineer at Intermedics Orthopedics, where they provided technical support and conducted laboratory testing for orthopedic implant projects. Rod then worked as a Research & Analysis Engineer at Intermedics/Sulzer Orthopedics from 1996 to 2000. From 2000 to 2003, they served as a Product Development Engineer at Sulzer/Centerpulse Orthopedics. In 2003, Bristol joined Orthopedic Designs as an Engineer. Rod later became a Sr. Development Engineer at ConMed Linvatec in 2004 and a Sr. Project Manager at Zimmer Orthobiologics from 2005 to 2011. From 2011 to 2018, they worked as a Principal Development Engineer at Renovis Surgical Technologies, responsible for developing joint replacement implants and instruments. Bristol then joined Smith & Nephew as a Sr. Program Manager in 2018, leading programs for knee replacement products. Currently, they are employed at Kyocera Medical Technologies, Inc. as a Product Development Manager for Hip Products, overseeing engineering activities and supporting quality and operational requirements.
Rod Bristol obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Iowa, where they studied from 1988 to 1992. Afterward, they pursued a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same university, completing their studies from 1992 to 1994.
