Dr. Paul Bayard has served as the Chief Medical Officer for La Clínica de La Raza, Inc. since 2016, after more than 20 years of dedication to the organization and to its patients. Prior to his appointment, Dr. Bayard served as the Interim Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Bayard received his Bachelor’s degree from Harvard College, and his Master of Public Health degree from the University of California, Berkeley. His medical degree was earned from the University of California, San Francisco, and he completed his residency through the UCSF/San Francisco General Hospital Family Practice Residency Program.
For 25 years, Dr. Bayard has provided a full spectrum of family medicine care to La Clínica patients as a primary care physician at the Transit Village site, with emphasis on the treatment of chronic disease, including HIV care, diabetes, and heart disease, as well as integrated behavioral health. For 19 years, as Associate Medical Director, he provided clinical supervision of the Family Medicine and Triage sections of Transit Village’s Medical Department, and for the past 10 years, he has provided oversight to the organization’s pharmacy operations.
Board-certified in Family Medicine since 1993, Dr. Bayard’s dedication to La Clínica patients is well known throughout the community. Dr. Bayard has received the Kaiser Permanente National HIV/AIDS Diversity Award and the Award of Excellence from the Alameda Health Consortium and Community Health Center Network for the Transit Village Family Medicine Panel Management Program. In honor of World AIDS Day in 2015, Dr. Bayard was invited to present on a panel at the White House. As a Primary Care Physician at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, Dr. Bayard supervised the transition from combined Adult Medicine/Obstetrics Hospital Services to Primary Obstetrics Services and developed a relationship with Alameda Hospital to assist with hospital care for patients. Dr. Bayard is bilingual in English and Spanish.
