Norma Edith García-González has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles related to parks, recreation, and environmental development. Norma Edith is currently serving as the Director for the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District, where they have been involved in awarding grants to improve and rehabilitate parks and recreational facilities. Prior to this, they held the position of Director for the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation.
In their previous roles, García-González has also served as a Governing Board of Trustees member for Rio Hondo College, where they played a role in developing educational programs and services. Norma Edith has also held leadership positions at the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, including Chief Deputy Director and Deputy Director. In these roles, they oversaw various aspects of park planning, development, and environmental management.
García-González gained experience in policy development and environmental issues as the Community and Environmental Deputy to Los Angeles County Board of Supervisor Gloria Molina. Norma Edith was also an Associate Regional Planner at the Southern California Association of Governments.
Throughout their career, García-González has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving parks, open spaces, and environmental sustainability.
Norma Edith García-González obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government from the University of California, Los Angeles, from 2003 to 2005. Norma Edith then pursued a Master of Arts degree in Urban Planning from the same university, from 2007 to 2009.
