Prior to the library career, John Elford worked as a Field Archaeologist at Sapphos Environmental, Inc. and ASM Affiliates, Inc., conducting excavations and surveys, along with a position as Staff Archaeologist at South Central Coastal Information Center. John Elford holds a Master of Library & Information Science from San Jose State University, a Master of Arts in Anthropology from California State University, Fullerton, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from The University of New Mexico.
