Jon Reidar Hammerfjeld has over 25 years of experience in the media and journalism industry. Jon Reidar began their career in 1991 as a teacher at the Centre for Journalism. From 1992 to 1993 they worked as a staff reporter at Nordlys before becoming a staff reporter/newsdesk editor at Romerikes Blad. In 1997 they moved to Smaalenene Medier as a newsdesk editor and then to Aftenposten Multimedia in 1998 as an online newsdesk editor. From 2000 to 2011 they worked at DB Medialab as the chief online newsdesk editor before joining Publish Lab as the development director. In 2017 they became the CEO and Chief Executive Officer at Publish Lab AS.

Jon Reidar Hammerfjeld began their education in 1985 at the University of Oslo (UiO) studying Exphil. In 1987 they continued their studies at the University of Bergen (UiB) in the field of Administrasjon og organisasjonsvitenskap, completing the Grunnfag degree in 1988. Jon Reidar then returned to UiB in 1988 to pursue a Grunnfag degree in Massekommunikasjon og medievitenskap, which they completed in 1989. In 1989, they enrolled at Nord University where they completed a degree in Journalism in the field of Journalism in 1991.
