Sofia Almeida Nunes is a skilled service designer with extensive experience in the public sector and design research. Currently working at LabX – Center for Innovation in the Public Sector since January 2025, Sofia previously held similar roles at Tangível from January 2022 to January 2025 and Design Research Portugal from October 2020 to February 2022. Prior to these positions, Sofia contributed as a design researcher at INNGAGE between October 2018 and October 2019. Academically, Sofia earned a Master’s degree in Product Design/Participatory Design and an Undergraduate degree in Product Design from Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa, complemented by ongoing education in Welding and Oxy-Cutting at CENFIM and a ceramics workshop at CENCAL.

LabX – Center for Innovation in the Public Sector, contributes to the ecosystem of innovation in Public Administration by promoting the renewal of the offer of public services, suited to the real needs of citizens and companies. It aims to design and experiment with innovative solutions for public services, putting citizens at the center of its approach. It is an open space, working in collaboration with service users, with officials and public administration leaders and with the scientific and business community in order to experiment to improve. Any public service has the opportunity to put a problem under analysis, or test potential innovative solution for the organization.
