Mike Brown

Mike Brown has over 27 years of work experience in various roles within the technology sector. Mike is currently serving as the Chief Information Officer at Lackawanna County since February 2021. Previously, they worked as the IT Deputy Director from September 2014 to February 2021, and as the IT Operations Manager from September 2013 to September 2014. In these roles, they managed the workflow and general operations of the department, assigned duties to staff, assisted with obtaining quotes and billing, managed budgets, and acted as the Department Head in the absence of the CIO.

Prior to their current position, Mike worked as a Consultant at MBComputing since January 2001. Mike also served as an Adjunct Instructor at Ridley-Lowell Business & Technical Institute from January 2014 to January 2016.

From 2007 to 2012, Mike had a role as School Chair and IT-CNS Instructor at ITT Technical Institute. Mike managed programs and instructional staff, ensured proper instruction and delivery of curricula, and provided coaching and feedback to the instructional staff.

Before that, Mike worked as an Instructor at Keystone Job Corps from November 2007 to September 2008.

From 2004 to 2007, Mike held two positions at Pomeroy IT Solutions - Senior Project Manager and Senior Customer Engineer. In these roles, they managed projects, identified risks, determined project requirements, monitored agent productivity, and maintained SLA agreements with customers.

From 2000 to 2004, Mike worked as a Client Services Analyst at Minerals Technology Inc, providing support to over 1000 users. Mike also worked as a Consultant at TEKsystems from January 2000 to December 2000, providing desktop support to over 1000 users at Prudential.

From 1996 to 2000, Mike served as a Senior Customer Engineer at BancTec, where they installed and maintained multiple NT and Novell systems.

Their earliest work experience was as an IS Manager at Triboro Coach Corporation from March 1993 to January 1996, where they managed farebox information, performed audits, and provided in-house training.

Mike Brown obtained a Bachelor's degree in Management of Information Systems from American Intercontinental University in 2005. In 2009, they completed their Master's degree in Internet Securities from the same university. In 2025, Mike Brown will complete their Doctor of Psychology degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Capella University. Prior to their higher education, Mike Brown graduated from William E. Grady V.T.H.S. in 1989 with a degree in Computer Science. Mike Brown also holds several certifications including an edX Verified Certificate for Python Basics for Data Science obtained in June 2023, a CITI Program Learners certificate obtained in July 2021, an ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management obtained in May 2016, a Course 1 - Basic Teaching Methods certificate obtained in November 2014, and an A+ certification from CompTIA obtained in September 1997.
