Shannon Lail

Partner at Lail Vineyards

Shannon was born and raised in the Napa Valley. She spent her childhood steeped in wine, from watching her parents build brands to summer jobs as a cellar rat. After attending Duke University in North Carolina, she returned to Northern California to work for Francis Coppola’s film company, American Zoetrope. She spent ten years under his tutelage, learning every aspect of the film business from the perspective of a writer, director and producer. Over the course of her tenure at Zoetrope, Lail collaborated with Coppola on a slate of over 30 projects, helped launch the company’s first distribution division as well as the critically acclaimed short fiction & art quarterly, Zoetrope: All-Story. Though her work took her all over the country, she felt most at home at Coppola’s wine estate, where her mother and grandfather once lived (Inglenook). Shannon left Zoetrope in 2004 to work with Stephen Gaghan and Steven Soderbergh’s Section 8 as a co-producer on SYRIANA. Afterwards, she transitioned to independent film so she could return to the Napa Valley to raise her family. Her last film project GOATS premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012. Though not an acting manager of Lail Vineyards, Shannon has tremendous pride in the family business and its legacy.
