Hal Dobbins is a seasoned waste management professional with extensive experience in developing and implementing effective waste strategies. Currently serving as Waste Strategy Coordinator at Lake Macquarie City Council since July 2017, Hal manages a team focused on achieving resource recovery and circular economy targets while overseeing a $15 million annual operational budget. Previous roles include Resource Recovery Manager and Zero Waste Coordinator at the City of Sydney, where Hal successfully led major waste services contracts and initiatives that earned numerous accolades, including the Green Globe Award for Zero Waste Programs. Hal also held consultancy positions at the Green Building Council of Australia, where significant contributions were made to national waste compliance reporting standards. Educational credentials include a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from The University of Queensland and a Bachelor's degree in Applied Anthropology from Appalachian State University.
