Kevin Byrne

Kevin Byrne is currently a member at Lake Regional Health System. Prior to that, Kevin worked as a supply chain auditor for The Kent Group Associates Inc. from November 2018 to February 2021. In this role, Kevin conducted supply-chain audits of manufacturers for a private customer base and submitted detailed reports of their findings for technical review.

From July 2018 to December 2021, Kevin worked as a senior food safety consultant for Essential Food Safety Consulting. In this role, Kevin assisted food manufacturers and processors in developing or improving their food safety programs. Kevin also developed FSMA-compliant Preventive Control Plans, Food Defense/Intentional Adulteration Plans, and Food Fraud Plans for food manufacturers and processors. In addition, Kevin reviewed and updated existing GFSI-compliant programs such as SQF for food manufacturers and processors, HACCP Plans for food manufacturers and processors, and infographics for use in employee training programs for food safety, food defense, and food fraud.

Kevin has also assisted facilities in preparing for third-party audits, identifying and resolving issues regarding regulatory needs, food safety, food defense, and food fraud, and developing detailed SOP Manuals and Sanitation Standards of Operation (SSOPs).

Kevin Byrne has a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Industry from Kansas State University, an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Communication Arts from Suffolk County Community College, and a certification from the BRCGS in Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 8: Lead Auditor. Kevin also has a certification from the Association of Food and Drug Officials in Seafood HACCP, and a certification from ExpertRating Inc. in Project Management. In addition, they have a certification from ExpertRating Inc. in Total Quality Management, and a certification from the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) in FDA Food Defense Awareness for the IA Rule. Finally, they have a certification from the Management and Strategy Institute in Six Sigma Black Belt, and a certification from FSPCA in Certified Preventative Qualified Individual.
