Lorne Clifford has a diverse and extensive work experience. Lorne served as the Director of Security Services at Lakehead University since November 2014. Prior to that, they were a Sessional Professor at Confederation College, teaching courses on police powers and criminology from 1998 to 2006 and then from fall 2013 onwards. Lorne was also actively involved with the Canadian Cadet Organization as a Commissioned Officer and Civilian Instructor from 1991 to 2020, primarily working with the sea and air elements. Lorne held the position of Director and Chair of the Board at St. John Ambulance Ontario from August 1988 to December 2020. Lorne's experience in law enforcement includes working as a Recruiter and Background Investigator at Thunder Bay Police Service (January 2014 to January 2015) and serving as a Police Inspector and Branch Commander from August 1983 to December 2013. Additionally, Lorne took on various roles such as Director of the Eleanor Drury Children's Theatre at EDCT in 2013, Specialist Police Advisor in Jerusalem and Palestine with EUPOL COPPS from September 2011 to September 2012, and Director of the Police Executive Centre at the Canadian Police College from August 2007 to August 2010. Lorne also worked as a facilitator for the Sexual and Gender Based Violence Programme at Pearson Peacekeeping Centre from December 2008 to July 2010 and as a Visiting Programme Mentor at the Australian Institute of Police Management in July 2008.
Lorne Clifford has a diverse education history. Lorne obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with a focus on Criminal Law and Procedure from York University - Osgoode Hall Law School between 2016 and 2019. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a Pre-Law specialization at Lakehead University in 2014 and 2015. In 1980 to 1982, they pursued a program in Law and Security Administration at Niagara College. Additionally, Lorne Clifford obtained a certification as a Certified Municipal Manager Level Three - Police Executive Designation from the Ontario Municipal Management Institute in 2015. Furthermore, they pursued Military Arts and Science at the Royal Military College of Canada.
