Lakewood City Schools
The Lakewood City School District is an award-winning public school district with excellence in academics, the arts (named a Best Communities for Music Education 2016-2021), sports and community service, all in a city named among "Best Hometowns in Ohio" by Ohio magazine, "The Best Place to Raise a Family" by Northeast Ohio Parent Choice Awards and BusinessWeek.com and one of the country's "10 Most Exciting Small Cities" by Business Insider. Students walk to neighborhood schools and enjoy a wide variety of programming to meet the educational needs of every student that walks through our doors. While academic achievement is a top priority, the District also looks to create opportunity-rich environments that allow our students to explore beyond the classroom walls. Partnerships with local colleges and universities, West Shore Career-Technical District, and our Community Recreation and Education Department provide many educational options for students and families. In the last decade, our 4,600-student district has renovated or rebuilt seven elementary schools (grades PreK-5), two middle schools (grades 6-8) and added two new wings to Lakewood High School, an academic wing of additional classrooms and a performing arts and physical education wing that includes a community fitness center. The District also offers an elearning program and an alternative education program for grades 6-12. The Lakewood City Schools now has among the best school facilities and the best technological support for teaching and learning that can be found in our area.
