Sara Nichols currently serves as the Energy and Economic Development Manager at Land-of-Sky Regional Council, a position held since July 2018, focusing on enhancing economic development initiatives. Previously, Sara worked as the Economic Development Director and County Planner for Madison County Department of Development Services from November 2015 to July 2018, where collaboration with county officials centered on projects in outdoor recreation, technology, natural resources, and agriculture. Prior experience includes directing the Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District, where grant writing and community development were key responsibilities, as well as event planning at Richmond Hill Inn, managing high-end events. Sara holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Mars Hill University and is pursuing a Master's Degree in Sustainability Studies at Lenoir-Rhyne University.
