Fraser Morgan

Chief Scientist (acting) at Landcare Research New Zealand Limited

Fraser Morgan has a diverse background in geospatial modeling and research. Fraser started their career at Landcare Research in 2001 as a Geospatial Analyst, where they contributed to the development and adoption of the LENZ classification for understanding and visualizing environmental types in New Zealand. In 2003, Fraser moved to Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research, where they held several roles, including Researcher and Science Team Leader. Their work focused on spatial agent-based models of land use and land cover change, with a particular interest in non-economic behavioral traits and the diffusion of information through spatial and social networks. Fraser also worked on using environmental data to provide policy-relevant insights into environmental pressures. Fraser has also served as the Acting Chief Scientist at Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research.

Fraser Morgan holds a PhD in Geography from The University of Auckland, which they obtained from 2006 to 2010. Prior to that, they earned an MSc in Geography from the same institution from 1999 to 2001. Additionally, they completed a BSc in Geography at The University of Auckland from 1996 to 1998. In 2020, Fraser also obtained the certification of being Dare to Lead Trained from Dare to Lead™.
