Matthew Brier, PhD

Matthew Brier, PhD has a range of work experience in scientific research and laboratory management. Matthew is currently employed as a Scientist in Analytical Sciences at Landmark Bio. Previously, they worked at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where they held various roles including Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Heparin Applied Research Center, Graduate Research Assistant, and Laboratory Manager at the COVID-19 Molecular Testing Laboratory. In these positions, they conducted research on enzyme kinetics, chemoenzymatic conversion, and the synthesis and characterization of heparin intermediates. Matthew also managed laboratory operations, coordinated experiments, and reported findings to industry collaborators and funding partners. Before their time at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Matthew worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at UNSW and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where they focused on topics such as protein folding, molecular dynamics simulations, and genetic engineering. Overall, Matthew has demonstrated expertise in protein expression, purification, enzyme immobilization, process engineering, bacterial culture, and various computational methods.

Matthew Brier, PhD, completed their education in Chemical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Matthew earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering along with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mathematics, graduating in 2013. Matthew further pursued their studies at the same institution and obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Chemical Engineering in 2015. Matthew's academic journey culminated with the completion of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2020.
