Dr. Stephanie Bulger joined Lane Community College as its eighth president on July 1, 2022. She holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Michigan. Her academic background is in literature through a Masters from the University of Utah and Bachelors from Brigham Young University.
Prior to coming to Lane, Dr. Bulger was a vice chancellor at the San Diego Community College District and Wayne County Community College District where she also served in multiple campus and district leadership roles including campus associate dean, dean of distance learning, campus chief academic officer, and associate vice chancellor. Her experience teaching English and community college leadership courses at colleges and universities has provided her direct insight into the student and faculty experience.
Dr Bulger brings to LCC passions for increasing equitable access to college and improving outcomes for community college students. She has served as a consultant on technology trends impacting higher education. Her writings on the at-risk student, educational technology, innovation, and distance learning have been published in books, industry newsletters, and monographs. Dr. Bulger’s experience working for an educational technology start-up company has influenced her to promote entrepreneurial initiatives that advance learning, student support, and workforce development.
