Alexander LaVake, MPH, is a seasoned public health professional with extensive experience in community health initiatives and research management. Currently serving as the Overdose Prevention Coordinator at Lane County Government since April 2021, LaVake is responsible for coordinating county-wide strategies to mitigate drug-related overdoses in high-risk communities. Previously, LaVake managed the grant processes and scientific initiatives at the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund from January 2020 to March 2021. Prior experience includes coordinating nutrition education programs for at-risk youth at Outside In, developing health communication strategies at Cascade AIDS Project, and supporting community health education as a Teaching Assistant at Portland State University. LaVake holds a Master of Public Health degree from Portland State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Temple University.
