Lance Martin

Lance Martin is a software and machine learning professional currently developing an open-source LLM framework at LangChain since May 2023. Prior experience includes serving as Tech Lead Manager at Nuro, where leadership was provided to an applied ML team following an acquisition, and as Perception Lead at Ike, one of the first five hires who established the perception team prior to Nuro's acquisition. Lance also held the position of Senior Autonomy Engineer and Truck Perception Lead at Uber, overseeing truck perception across multiple locations. Earlier in the career, Lance was a Senior Data Scientist at Stanford University, producing patented software related to protein-RNA interactions and contributing to numerous publications. Additional roles include researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and data scientist and engineer at Mascoma Corp., an early-stage startup. Educational credentials include a PhD and MS from Stanford University, as well as a BE and BS from Dartmouth College.
