COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGIST

Job description

Lantern Pharma is seeking a talented and highly motivated Computational Biologist to provide bioinformatics support for enhancing our drug development, drug rescue, and repositioning AI platform that can predict drug response, therapeutic benefit, and survival outcome of cancer patients, and generate biomarker signatures that correlate to response for a drug candidate of interest.

RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Evaluating the performance of novel technology platforms and assays ● Interpreting the biological relevance of pathway and proxy genes and other gene sets that influence drug sensitivity ● Utilizing gene correlations and outcomes in disease to understand and guide drug development and repositioning ● Converting complex correlative analysis to predictive scores ● Working directly with research groups to analyze biomedical data and address scientific problems with bioinformatics techniques and tools and train researchers in the use of computational and bioinformatics tools ● Developing, refining, and improving bioinformatics tools for interpretation of large genomic data sets ● Tracking specimen information, experimental and analysis parameters, performance metrics, and genomic results in databases ● Installing and maintaining software and data ● Maintaining detailed records of all analyses ● Presenting results and progress updates at team meetings and making presentations to experimental and scientific collaborators and contributing to manuscripts ● Attending seminars, lectures, and training courses to learn new computational biology skills to remain up-to-date with the cancer genomics field and learning new programming languages or techniques as necessary

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: ● Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or related degree with 4-6 years of related experience preferred ● Cross-disciplinary and strong analytical skills as well as broad experience using computational methods, databases, software, and hardware ● Knowledge of cancer biology, genomics, and drug development ● Detail-oriented and self-motivated with strong reasoning skills based on data and benchmarking ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present analyses to a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, biologists, pharma executives, and scientists
