Lanxess
Michael Pontzen was born in Mönchengladbach in 1969. After studying business administration at the Philipps University of Marburg, which he graduated with a degree in business administration, Pontzen joined Ferrostaal AG in Essen as an assistant to the board. In 1999 he moved to the investor relations department of MAN AG as a manager before becoming team leader investor relations at EADS (now Airbus) in Munich in August 2001.
In November 2004, Pontzen joined LANXESS as Head of the Investor Relations Group Function. In October 2008 he took over the management of the Corporate Finance division within the Treasury group function. Since spring 2009, he has also been responsible for Risk and Cash Management.
Since January 2012, Pontzen has headed the Corporate Controlling group function.
On March 17, 2015, Michael Pontzen was appointed by the Supervisory Board of LANXESS AG as Chief Financial Officer of the specialty chemicals group with effect from April 1, 2015.
Pontzen is married and has four children.
