Ralph Gillespie has a diverse work experience in various companies. Ralph worked as a Director of Downstream Technology Commercialization at LanzaTech starting from October 2018. Prior to this, they had a long tenure at Celanese where they held several roles, including Director/Sr. Director Process Technology and Global R&D Director - Acetyls. Ralph was responsible for overseeing the development of R&D portfolios, improving commercial operation processes, and leading the commercialization of new ethanol production technology. Additionally, they established a corporate collaborative R&D presence in Asia and managed the expansion of the R&D staff. Before their time at Celanese, Gillespie worked at UOP where they served as a Research Manager and Senior Research Specialist, contributing to the development of catalyst and process improvements for various industries.
Ralph Gillespie's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Rice University, obtained from 1981 to 1985. Ralph then pursued a Master's degree in Inorganic Chemistry at Northwestern University from 1985 to 1986, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the same field from 1986 to 1989, also at Northwestern University.
