- From November 2020 onwards, Courtney has been working as the Program Director of Larkin Street Academy at Larkin Street Youth Services.
- From July 2018 to October 2020, Courtney worked at Tenderloin Housing Clinic. Courtney held the positions of Associate Director of Support Services and Support Services Manager. In these roles, they supervised a team of 30 employees, facilitated case conferences, oversaw disciplinary processes, and acted as an investigator for grievance procedures.

Courtney Brown earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Stony Brook University, where they attended from 2005 to 2008. In addition to their degree, Courtney obtained several certifications. They became a Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Trained professional through Larkin Street Youth Services in July 2022. In August 2018, they received a Yoga Instructor Certification - Level I from Yoga to the People. In May 2016, Courtney became a Wellness Recovery Action Plan Facilitator through PEERS Oakland. Lastly, in December 2014, they obtained the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Trainer certification from LivingWorks.
