Katerina Krumova has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of scientific research and development. Katerina started their career as a Graduate Researcher at the Bulgarian Academy of Science in 2002 and worked there until 2004. Katerina then pursued their Ph.D. in Chemistry at McGill University from 2006 to 2012, focusing on the design and synthesis of novel fluorescent probes for the imaging of reactive oxygen species.
After completing their Ph.D., Katerina worked as a Post-doctoral Fellow at McGill University from January 2013 to August 2013, where they managed the Cosa lab and developed synthetic methodologies for the preparation of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and fluorophores.
In 2013, Katerina joined Berg, LLC as a Scientist I in Biophysics/Chemical Biology. Katerina set up and managed the Organic Chemistry Lab and expanded the existing Imaging Facility. Katerina then transitioned to the role of Scientist III and became the Chemical Biology Program lead, where they directed projects in collaboration with various disease programs and developed liposomal formulations with high specificity for cancer cells.
In 2017, Katerina joined PureTech Health as a Senior Scientist, Formulation, where they played a crucial role in setting up the laboratory, expanding the team, and developing methods for exosomal isolation from milk. Katerina later became a Principal Scientist, contributing to the research activities focused on exploring the potential of milk exosomes as delivery vehicles for different therapeutics.
Currently, Katerina works at Laronde as the Director of Drug Delivery. Katerina leads the formulation development efforts and explores various delivery methods and techniques for nucleic acid-based therapeutics.
Overall, Katerina Krumova has demonstrated strong expertise in formulation development, drug delivery, and scientific research in various organizations throughout their career.
Katerina Krumova obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from "St. Kliment Ohridski" Sofia University from 1998 to 2002. Following this, they pursued their Master of Science degree in Organic Chemistry from the same university from 2002 to 2004. Later on, Katerina went on to enroll at McGill University, where they completed their Ph.D. in Chemistry from 2006 to 2012.
