Yasmin Wadia

Chairman & CEO at Laser Tissue Welding

Dr. Yasmin Wadia has one patent and has published 28 scientific papers, dealing with laser tissue welding, cardiothoracic surgery, heart transplantation, and ventricular assist devices. She is the key inventor of the albumin biomaterial and surgical application of laser tissue welding devices to repair solid visceral organs assigned to the company she co-founded. Dr. Wadia received her initial training in general surgery and cardiothoracic and vascular surgery from Bombay University in India. Prior to starting Laser Tissue Welding Inc, she was at the Oregon Medical Laser Center in Portland Oregon for 2 years where she invented the device in 1999. Thereafter she was at the Texas Heart Institute for 5 years in clinical research in the department of Cardiopulmonary Transplantation and Assist devices. She moved permanently to the United States in 1996 and is a citizen. Dr. Wadia was honored with the ‘Woman Entrepreneur of the Year 2008’, award by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston on January 30th, 2009.
