Abby's earlier experiences include working as a Research Assistant for Dean T. Alexander Aleinikoff at Georgetown University Law Center, where they conducted research on UK human rights law, international law, and U.S. immigration law. Abby also volunteered as a Pro Bono Volunteer with Magistrate Judge Carol Dalton at the D.C. Superior Court, Family Court, Child Abuse and Neglect Branch.

Furthermore, Abby served as a Litigation Paralegal at Hill & Barlow, where they assisted in the impeachment investigation and trial of New Hampshire Supreme Court Chief Justice David A. Brock. Abby also handled trial preparation, wrote affidavits and memoranda, conducted witness interviews, and participated in pro bono immigration and asylum cases.

Abby's international experiences include being a Fulbright Scholar at the International Rescue Committee in Spain, where they studied refugee rights. Abby interviewed asylum-seekers, wrote reports supporting asylum claims, aided applicants for third country resettlement, and taught courses for refugees to be resettled in the United States. Additionally, they interned at the International Institute of Humanitarian Law and the Academy of European Law, where they gained valuable experience in the field.

Abby Gordon completed their Bachelor of Arts in Government/Romance Languages at Dartmouth College from 1994 to 1998. Abby then pursued further education at Georgetown University Law Center, where they obtained a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from 2002 to 2005.
