Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult
Ben Moverley Smith is an experienced engineer specializing in offshore renewable energy, currently serving as a Floating Wind Project Engineer at Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult since February 2024. Prior to this role, Ben was a Research and Development Engineer at Xodus Group, where involvement in a three-year research placement as part of the IDCORE programme led to the development of innovative tools such as a floating foundation size estimator and Discrete Event Simulation for logistics in floating wind farm construction. Additional experience includes a policy internship at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, focusing on reforming the Contracts for Difference mechanism for large-scale renewable deployment, and an assistant project engineer role at CSO Technik, managing projects related to waste management solutions. Ben holds an EngD in Offshore Renewable Energy from The University of Edinburgh and a BSc in Natural Sciences from UCL.
