Suta Kavari

Director, Research at Laurel Strategies

Suta Kavari brings broad and diverse experience situated at the nexus between politics, economics, and sustainability to Laurel Strategies. Prior to joining Laurel, Suta conducted research for Oxford University’s Net Zero Initiative, tracking global progress in the implementation of net zero commitments. He has previously helped clients in the financial services sector develop processes identifying the sustainability issues relevant and material to their operations and stakeholders.

Suta previously served as special assistant to the Minister in the Namibian Presidency, where he provided evidence-based advice and briefings on a broad range of public policy issues. He also served as an adviser to the delegations to the UN General Assembly, G20, and other high-level international forums, preparing policy papers and background briefings. He has in previous roles, including with WPP Government & Public Sector Practice, analyzed global macro trends and risk concentrations, and built collaborative relationships across sectors to influence policy development. He was an associate lecturer in sustainable development at Stellenbosch University’s School of Public Leadership in South Africa. He has in previous roles

Suta holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford. He received his bachelor’s in Economics and Risk Management from the North-West University, South Africa and earned a graduate degree in Sustainable Development with top honors from Stellenbosch University. Suta grew up in Namibia and is currently living in the UK with his partner.
