Don Jones

Don Jones has a diverse work experience that spans different industries and roles. Don currently works as a VR Engineer at LavaMap since January 2020. Prior to that, they were a Data Engineer at Valence Media from May 2019 to November 2019.

From November 2016 to March 2018, Don worked as a Hardware Engineer under contract to Google, specifically with the Loon team, where they focused on PLC-based automation and upgraded data post-processing systems.

Before their contract work, Don was with Google from June 2014 to June 2016 as a Data Center Operations specialist. During their time there, they were responsible for operations, maintenance, and project support on critical infrastructure, and they made significant contributions to power monitoring software and power distribution data analysis.

Don's work experience also includes their time in the United States Navy at the Nuclear Power Training Unit. From April 2010 to September 2013, they served as an Instructor and a Nuclear Electrician, performing maintenance on electrical systems, training personnel, and managing training schedules. Don also held positions as a Training Petty Officer and an Engineering Department Training Assistant during this time.

In addition to these roles, Don worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from May 2012 to September 2012, where they developed software to integrate optical motion capture systems with unmanned aerial vehicles.
