Willem Van Der Merwe has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Willem most recently worked as the Chief Strategy Officer at LIPCO - LAW FOR ALL, where they have been since 2022. Prior to that, they were the Co-Founder & Producer at Good Egg, where they developed a TV series based on a personal story, from 2021 to 2023. Willem also served as a Communication and Marketing Strategist at 17 Triggers and later became the Managing Director. In this role, they were responsible for developing behavior change projects in the international development sector.
Willem has also worked as a Digital Publisher at Media24 Lifestyle - Magazine division, where they managed the digital transformation and commercialization of several magazine brands. Willem held the position of Business Development Manager at Media24 and was responsible for VIA & Editorial Solutions.
Earlier in their career, Willem worked as a Managing Partner at JWT, where they integrated digital services and grew revenues. Willem also served as the Managing Director at Trigger Isobar and oversaw client strategies and new business pitches. Prior to that, they were the Head of Digital Media at Digital Fire and the Online Sales Manager at Media24 - woman360. Willem started their career as an Account Executive at Publicom.
Willem Van Der Merwe holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Stellenbosch University, with a focus on Law & Humanities. In 2009, they attended the UCT Graduate School of Business for a short period to study Nomadic Marketing. Willem also participated in a Digital Marketing Master Class at an unspecified time. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained a Professional Scrum Master™ I (PSM I) certification from Scrum.org in November 2022. In April 2018, they completed a course on "Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy" from MIT Sloan Executive Education.
