Lawyers for Human Rights
Jessica Lawrence is an experienced legal professional with a focus on human rights and environmental justice. Currently serving as Programme Manager and Senior Attorney at Lawyers for Human Rights since January 2014, Jessica has also managed the Johannesburg office and led various programs related to refugee rights, migrant rights, and labor issues. In addition, Jessica has a background in academia as a part-time lecturer at Varsity College. Educational qualifications include a Master of Laws (LLM) in Human Rights and Constitutional Law from the University of Johannesburg and ongoing studies for a Master of Science (MSc) in International Human Rights Law at the University of Oxford.

Lawyers for Human Rights is an independent human rights organisation with a thirty-year track record of human rights activism and public interest litigation in South Africa. LHR uses the law as a positive instrument for change and to deepen the democratisation of the South African society. To this end, it provides free legal services to vulnerable, marginalised and indigent individuals and communities, both non-national and South African, who are victims of unlawful infringements of their Constitutional rights
