Josh Murphree

Senior Engineering Manager at LBA Hospitality

As Senior Engineering Manager, Josh believes his most important responsibility is to provide guidance and support to his team – a role he learned expertly from his father, a lifelong textile worker in upstate South Carolina. Whether carpentry, plumbing or electrical, Josh watched and learned from his father, developing very early on a skill set – and a mindset – that would lead him to where he is today.

After attending the College of Charleston, Josh took what he thought was a temporary job for The Chandler Group. Showing a high aptitude for machine works, electrical control work and troubleshooting, he was quickly promoted to Service Technician. Working with heavy machinery began to take a physical toll, so Josh sought less strenuous work in residential construction. When the housing market crashed in 2008, he accepted a Maintenance Assistant position at Holiday Inn Express in Greenville. This was Josh’s introduction to the hospitality industry, but his skill set and demeanor spoke for themselves, and he was quickly moved up to Chief Engineer.

In 2011, he joined the LBA team as Chief Engineer at Courtyard by Marriott in Clemson, South Carolina. In 2012, he accepted the role of Regional Engineering Manager, where he led his team with patience, respect and kindness, just as his father taught him. Josh accepted the position of Senior Engineering Manager in 2017, allowing him to provide a much higher level of support to LBA properties, including identifying projects and assets to be considered for capital funds and presenting these to ownership groups.

An avid outdoorsman, Josh enjoys camping, hunting, fishing, boating and hiking, and takes every opportunity to spend time with his wife, children and parents.
