Layne Mistretta MSN, RN, NPD-BC has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. In 1989, they began their career at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, where they held various roles including Staff Registered Nurse, Staff RN through Leadership Team, and Director of Emergency Services. During their time at Thibodaux, they also served as a Supervisor in Clinical Education and Research and as a Clinical Site Coordinator.
In 2008, Mistretta joined East Jefferson General Hospital as the Director of Education and Professional Development. Layne also took on roles such as Supervisor of Clinical Education and Research and Supervisor of Nursing Knowledge and Research.
Mistretta has been involved in education as well, serving as an Adjunct Nursing Faculty at Loyola University New Orleans from 2014 to 2018 and as an Adjunct Clinical Nursing Faculty at Nicholls State University in 2014.
In 2023, they joined LCMC Health as the Corporate Sr. Director of Clinical Education and Development.

Layne Mistretta holds a variety of degrees and certifications throughout their education history. Layne first attended Nicholls State University from 1987 to 1992, where they earned an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) with a field of study in Pre-Med Chemistry/Nursing. Following this, they completed their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Nicholls State University from 1999 to 2000.
Moving forward, Mistretta attended Vickie Milazzo Legal Nurse Consulting from 2000 to 2003, where they obtained a certification in Legal Nurse Consulting. Later, they pursued a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Nursing, Healthcare Administration from Loyola University New Orleans, completing their studies from 2004 to 2006.
In 2021, Mistretta received a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Nursing Professional Development - Board Certified in February 2022 from the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center.
Currently, Mistretta is enrolled in a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program with a concentration in Executive Nurse Leadership at Aspen University, expected to be completed between 2021 and 2023.
