James Brake is an experienced cybersecurity professional with a focus on operational technology. Currently serving as the Director of Cyber Security for the LCRA since April 2019, Brake leads initiatives in cybersecurity services for electric power generation, encompassing areas such as cyber asset management, vulnerability remediation, and security architecture. Prior to this role, Brake held the position of Identity and Access Management Lead at ERCOT, overseeing IT IAM activities and collaborating with various teams. Previous experience includes positions at CPS Energy as a Security Administrator, GMS Group as Associate Director and Assistant Event Manager, and Associated Electric Cooperative in several managerial roles related to information technologies and energy management systems. James Brake holds an M.S. in Engineering Management from Missouri University of Science & Technology and a B.S. in Physics and Computer Science from Missouri State University.
