Leadership Public Schools
Jean loves being part of the LPS community. She comes to the East Bay from Chicago, where she worked as a special education teacher in the Chicago Public Schools for over 10 years. Jean began her teaching career on the Navajo Reservation where she spent three years teaching students with moderate to severe disabilities in St. Michaels, AZ. Jean earned her bachelor’s degree in special education from Illinois State University; her M.A. from Loyola University Chicago in Cultural and Educational Policy Studies; and her post-master’s certification in the Director of Special Education program from Illinois State University. Jean has had the pleasure of working with students ranging in age from preschool to 21 years. She believes strongly in fostering independence and self-advocacy for students with disabilities. In her freetime, Jean can be seen exploring California with her husband and 3 young children.
