Patrick Valduriez has over 40 years of work experience in the technology field. Patrick began their career in 1977 as a Computer Programmer for the Office Béninois d'Informatique, where they developed COBOL applications. In 1980, they joined Inria as a Scientist and Junior Researcher. In 1984, Patrick became a Senior Scientist at the Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corp, where they designed and implemented the Bubba parallel database system. In 1996, they were appointed Director of the Dyade R&D joint venture (Bull and Inria), leading a team of 50 Bull engineers and Inria researchers to develop basic technologies for advanced information systems. This led to several major technology transfers in Bull products and four startups. In 2000, Patrick joined the Pierre and Marie Curie University as a Professor, and the same year also joined LIP6 - Laboratoire d'Informatique Sorbonne Université/CNRS as a Researcher. In 2019, they became the Chief Scientific Officer at LeanXcale, where they applied the principles of distributed and parallel databases in the real-world.
Patrick Valduriez completed their education history with a Doctorat d'Etat from Pierre and Marie Curie University in 1985, following a Ph.D. from the same university in 1981. Before that, they earned a Master's degree in Computer Science from Pierre and Marie Curie University in 1977, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Lille 1 Sciences and Technology in 1975.
