Kathy D. Harrison (She/Her)

Director, Signature Programs at LeAp

Kathy D. Harrison is an Artistic Director, Arts Administrator and Arts Educator. She is also a multi-disciplined performing artist, composer, and playwright. She has a particular knack for creating musical theater projects which integrate historical and justice based themes while highlighting untold stories from the African-American perspective. Her works have been licensed and produced by theaters, schools, and arts institutions.

With an extensive background in creative youth development, Ms. Harrison has spent the past 20 years working successfully in arts administration and arts management, where she has piloted and designed theater, music, and dance programs for non-profit organizations, social service agencies, and arts institutions. In 2006, she founded Diversity Youth Theater, which was a resident company partnered with Newark Symphony Hall and Luna Stage Theater.

In 2016, she joined LEAP and presently serves as the Director of Signature Theatre Programs, spearheading initiatives to ensure artistic quality throughout K-12 performing arts programs In 2019, she was integral to the conception and development of LEAP Artists LIVE!, the resident touring ensemble for which she is also the Artistic Director.
