Mike Thaman is a member of UL’s Board of Directors and is based in Toledo, Ohio. He is the former chair and CEO of Owens Corning, a world leader in insulation, roofing, and fiberglass composites. As a $7 billion (USD) company founded in 1938 with roughly 20,000 employees in 33 countries, Owens Corning is one of only 65 companies that has been on the Fortune 500 list of companies since its inception.
Mike Thaman joined Owens Corning in 1992, where he served as a chief executive officer from 2007 to 2019 and chaired the board from 2002 until 2020. Before joining Owens Corning, Mike spent six years as a strategy consultant at Mercer Management Consulting, where he was a vice president. Currently, he serves as an adviser to UBQ Materials, a WasteTech startup with a proprietary technology that transforms municipal solid waste into thermoplastic recycled material. By leading investments and innovation initiatives as CEO as well as advising on renewables via new endeavors, Mike is a valued member of UL’s Board.
