Charles George Abou Rjeily

Mr. Charles George Abou Rjeily was appointed to the role of Vice President for Finance in September 2015 after serving as Assistant Vice President University Comptroller since September 2009. He joined LAU in 2000 as University Comptroller.

In his role, Mr. Abou Rjeily is responsible for overseeing the well-being of LAU’s finances. He supervises the financial functions at the university including financial planning and budgeting, cash and endowment management, accounting, grants administration, and financial reporting and controls. He also provides leadership in developing finance and budget-related policies to ensure that all the functions are properly run.

As Vice President for Finance, Mr. Abou Rjeily is a member of the President’s Cabinet and the University Planning Council. He also chairs the University Budget Committee and supervises the LAUMC-RH CFO.

Mr. Abou Rjeily started his career in 1979 as an auditor in Lebanon. In 1986 he relocated to Dubai to join KPMG as a staff accountant and became Audit Manager in 1993. While at KPMG, he specialized in the audit of banks, advertising firms and NGOs. He was also vigorously involved in most of the major special investigation assignments undertaken by the firm.

In 1994, Mr. Abou Rjeily returned to Lebanon with KPMG as Senior Manager for audit, training and compliance, and handled the entire international portfolio of the firm. In June 1998, he joined Exxon Mobil Lebanon as Finance Director with the mission of transforming the company’s administrative system into a state-of-the art automated environment.

Mr. Abou Rjeily has a license degree, with a Master’s equivalence, in Commercial Sciences from Université Saint-Esprit Kaslik.
